This update shares the latest progress on the Series No.1, - "Layne" Automatic watch , including prototype development and design decisions, offering a behind-the-scenes look as we build this watch into a reality.

Prototype Development and Design Choices
I have finalized agreements with my production team to build eight prototypes, covering four distinct versions of the Series No.1 watch. Each version highlights a unique combination of case finish, dial style, and strap material:
Black Sunburst: Stainless steel case paired with a leather strap
Blue Fume/Gradient: Stainless steel case with a leather strap
Green Fume Gradient: Gun metal PVD case combined with a canvas strap
C3 Full-Lume Dial: Gun metal PVD case and canvas strap
These choices reflect a balance between classic and modern aesthetics, The use of gun metal PVD cases adds a contemporary edge, while leather and canvas straps provide versatility and comfort.
Finalizing Details and Next Steps
All CAD drawings and related small details have been completed and submitted for production. This milestone marks a significant step toward bringing the Series No.1 to life. The next phase involves selecting packaging and printing providers to ensure the unboxing experience matches the quality of the watch itself. I am also exploring additional strap alternatives to offer customers meaningful add-ons that complement the core designs.
The dial designs went through extensive polling on various forums and social media platforms, allowing me to gather valuable feedback from the watch community. This collaborative approach helped refine the aesthetics and ensured the final look resonates with potential buyers.

A Personal Mission Behind the Watches
What sets M. Ryan Watch Designs apart is the personal mission behind the brand. I plan to donate a meaningful percentage of every watch sold to rare disease and epilepsy research. While the exact percentage is still being determined, this commitment adds a deeper purpose to the project beyond creating beautiful timepieces.
The initial production run aims for 400 pieces, targeting a Q4 launch this year. This limited quantity reflects the microbrand’s focus on quality and community connection rather than mass production.
Stay Connected and Watch for Updates
For those interested in the Series No.1 or watch design in general, I plans to keep sharing updates and wristshots on our blog. This ongoing dialogue invites questions about specs, design choices, and the development process.
